This year's DSC President's Rifle is 'An African Single-Shot Stalking Rifle' generously donated by the AMERICAN CUSTOM GUNMAKERS GUILD Firearm Project #28. This custom rifle is built on a Hagn action, chambered in .450-.400-3" Nitro and incorporates a Krieger Barrel with an integral, matted rib. The stock and forend are English walnut. A custom-fit elephant hide rifle case built by Marvin Huey completes this exquisite package.

This incredible, one-of-a-kind custom rifle was created through a team-effort led by project chairman, David Norin. His team included stock-makers, a metal-smith, a metal-finisher (i.e. bluing, color case hardening), a checkering specialist, and an engraver. The credit for this fine craftsmanship begins with Glenn Fewless, the metal smith, who reworked the entire action to resemble a turn of the century English single shot rifle. Glenn fashioned the barrel from a Krieger barrel blank including the integral rib with his marvelous rib-matting style. Next, Trez Hensley was the stock maker who created the stock which clearly has the Hensley family styling, yet is reminiscent of a classic English rifle. Upon completion of his work, final fitting of the stock and finish was completed by Doug Mann. Kathy Forster did the marvelous checkering on this rifle and Lee Griffiths recreated the elegant rose and scroll engraving typical of the English style. Finally, metal finishing includes the color case hardened action by Turnbull restoration, rust bluing of the other major metal components by Glenn Fewless and small parts were nitre blued by Dave Norin.
