"Mbobo II" - Original artwork by wildlife artist John Banovich - measures 20"x38". The artist reflects...I have painted the Cape Buffalo nearly 100 times over the past 25 years. Words like Menacing, Arrogant, Indifferent, Intrusive, Threatening, Aggressive, and Black Heart all come to mind when describing this Beast, but few authors penned the words that inspire my interpretation than Robert Roark's illuminating phrase, "I lurched up and looked at Mbogo, and Mbogo looked at me. He was 50 to 60 yards off, his head low, his eyes staring right down my soul. He looked at me as if he hated my guts. He looked as if I had despoiled his finacee, murdered his mother and burned down his house. He looked at me as if I owed him money. I never saw such malevolence in the eyes of any animal or human being, before or since. So I shot him." John Banovich is a longtime donor and supporter of the Dallas Safari Club, and is a "Partner in Conservation" with DSC to help generate funding for and awareness of conservation needs in wild places around the world. DSC is a major contributor to BWF and host of an annual expo providing Banovich with a premier venue for exhibiting art to the public and together spreading the message of conservation. Through promotion, the artist has helped expand the DSC brand and event traffic for one of the world's largest outdoor sporting conventions. Proceeds from Banovich artwork support BWF, providing essential assistance to many small-but-vital organizations dedicated to scientific research, habitat conservation and public education. Efforts are focused in Africa and the Russian Far East. BWF supports 12 projects in seven countries.
