Be the eighth to enjoy this special hat for a year. The Bill Yeatts Memorial Hat was introduced at the inaugural Life Member Breakfast in 2006. Bill's special friends Phillip and Robin Smith purchased the year-long opportunity to enjoy the hat the first year. Phillip wore the hat to Bolivia in July to the Las Cortinas Lodge where eight hunters took more than 1,000 pigeons in about four hours. It was also worn by Phillip to Alabama to the Bubber Cameron and Sons Quail Preserve where Dixie has hunted with the Smiths. Phillip wore the hat proudly and thought of Bill every time he took to the field or picked up a shotgun! Albert Wolfe was the winning bidder in 2007 for a year of adventure with Bill's hat. Albert's story on the hat - "While with the hat I took my. 470 double to Argentina to take a water buffalo, also taken on this hunt were Brocket Deer, Axis, Capybara and Black Buck. The hat was then taken on a family safari to Tanzania where many Masai land species were taken along with a very large leopard. The hat was worn by Karen, Albert V and myself and was never out of our pack, our thoughts of Dixie and what she has meant to the DSC as well as our family every time we touched the hat." The third year was spent with the Allen Moore family on their special hunts. Jim Tolson took the special honor the fourth year enjoying this DSC treasure for adventure with his hunts. Russ and Debi Young cherished the hat in its fifth year of travels. With them, Bill's hat traveled to Pakistan, New Zealand, Mozambique, South Dakota and Spain! During its sixth year, Charlie Barnes enjoyed the hat: "Bill's traveling hat first went to west Texas with me to hunt Aoudad. The hat was there in the spring to share a special last spring turkey hunt with Jerry Peterman at his ranch. From there the hat traveled to South Africa while 12 animals were taken on film as we traveled to 8 different concessions in the Limpopo province near Botswana to film 5 Episodes of Gone Huntin Safaris TV. Winona and I are honored to have been a small part of the rich DSC tradition of Bill's hat. Long after the details of this year's hunts have faded, the memory of having helped Dixie to further conservation and promote Dallas Safari Club in remembrance of Bill…will live on!" On it's seventh year, the hat's first adventure with the Pratt family was shortly after the Convention, when Andrew returned to South Texas to close out the whitetail season in January, and again for a turkey hunt in the spring. The summer found the hat in Africa with the Pratt Family, and was with Kym when she harvested her lioness and again when Andrew took a lion. Both girls, Nykol & Elyssabeth, were fortunate enough to take several species as well. The hat found its way to Vancouver Island with Andrew in August for a bit of king salmon fishing on Nootka Sound. We are proud to have been the bearer of the hat for 2012, and hope that the tradition continues for years to come. This special donation is a 100% donation from his widow and special friend of DSC, Life Member Dixie Yeatts.
