Donated by MCGUIRE & HINES STUDIOS: "Danger in the Dust" is based on several experiences Jan and James have had with charging elephants - twice in Tanzania and, well, they lost count in Zambia, but at least once a day! Jan really liked the idea of the aggressive elephant coming out of the dust with its head up and sizing you up before deciding whether to just bluff or lower his head and charge!

Jan Martin McGuire, artist and naturalist - is a longtime supporter of DSC. She and her husband James Hines (whose photograph was featured on a past cover of Game Trails) are life members and exhibitors at the convention. Jan has been the DSC Artist of the Year several times and her work has appeared on the cover of Game Trails many times. Jan is an ardent believer that an artist has to experience what they paint. To that end, she and James travel extensively all over North America, Central America and Africa - where they lead annual photographic and natural history trips to Kenya and Tanzania. Jan has had several major career achievements including having a solo show in New York at FORBES GALLERIES on 5th Ave and a feature article in the international art magazine WILDLIFE ART, to name a few. Jan is honored to be in many DSC members collections including: Corey Knowlton ("The Professionals" TV show personality), Ben Carter (Executive Director DSC), Gray Thornton, Lary Knowlton, Karen & Albert Wolfe, Patti & Rich Roberson, Steve & Yvonne Miller, Wendy & Irvin Barnhart, Phyllis Taylor, Don & Penny Schmidt, Tom & Vicki Garrison, Stan & Donna Newding, Wilson & Susan Stout and many, many more. . . .Dallas Safari Club thanks McGuire & Hines Studios for this 100% donation. NOTE: The image shown here is is a digital conceptual composition. Jan takes many photos in the field, then combines different elements from several, and also uses drawing tools in the program to create an image which will be used to help create her to visualize and create the painting. The actual painting may have some differences from this photo. Jan Martin McGuire, 918-336-9021, 918-914-3528, Fax 918-336-9022, 436 S.
